The Gilded Guardian Angel Project consists of a pair of panel paintings, each measuring 60x30", gilded wood with polychrome detail. In order to perfect the hues for the project, a detailed study was made on gilded canvas.

Classical techniques and ancient symbols build a visual link between today's sacred art and generations of faithful that precede us.

Choosing oil over acryllic guarantees that the artist will spend more time mixing and painting. The art will take more time drying. Using genuine 23.5 kt gold leaf over an oil ground increases the budget and ups the skills requirement. Doing a preparatory sketch in gold leaf and oil fairly well doubles the project timeline.

Why do all of this, when there are faster, easier, less expensive ways of creating a simialr work of art? We use this method of work at Illuminaton.Studio because we think it is the right way, for today, for tomorrow, and for generations to come.

The more materialistic science becomes, the more angels shall I paint. Their wings are my protest in favor of the immortality of the soul.
